Terms and Conditions of Hire

All vehicles are to be collected and returned in normal working hours, unless a prior arrangement has been made.

Smoking Policy
It is against the law to smoke in any of the “Wright Self Drive LTD” Vehicles.

If it is found that you or you have allowed any other persons to smoke in the vehicle you will have hired you will be charged £50 to have the vehicle valeted.

24 Hour Hire (1 Day)
All one day hires start from the time of collection and for 24hrs only.

  • If you do not bring the vehicle back on time you are breaking the conditions of this agreement.
  • We can charge you for every day or part day you have the vehicle after you should have returned it to us.
  • We can also take back the vehicle without notice if we reasonably think that you are in breach of any of the conditions of this agreement or have given us incorrect information.
  • You hereby authorise us to enter your property for the purposes of recovering the vehicle where there has been breach of this agreement.

Your Responsibilities

  • You must look after the vehicle and the keys to the vehicle. You must always lock the vehicle when you are not using it, and use any security device fitted to or supplied with the vehicle. You must always protect the vehicle against bad weather which can cause damage. You must make sure that you use the correct fuel.
  • You are responsible for any damage to the vehicle caused by hitting low-level objects, such as bridges or low branches.
  • You must not sell, rent or dispose of the vehicle or any of its parts. You must not give anyone legal rights over the vehicle.
  • You must not let anyone work on the vehicle without our permission. If we do give you permission we will only give you a refund if you have a receipt for the work.
  • You must let us know as soon as you become aware of a fault in the vehicle.
  • You will have to pay for reasonable costs for repair if: We have to pay extra costs to return the vehicle to its condition when pre-rental inspected was carried out (for example, if extra valeting time or special material or equipment is needed to restore the vehicle to its pre-rental condition) or you have damaged the inside of the vehicle.
  • Apart from fair wear and tear you will pay for the cost of any loss of or damage caused to the vehicle (regardless of fault) during the rental and you will also pay for any loss of rental income while the vehicle is being repaired. Our loss of rental income will be the usual rental charge for the vehicle until the repairs are completed or until settlement is reached and payment received.
  • Before you bring back the vehicle you must check that you have not left any personal belongings in the vehicle.

Conditions for using the Vehicle
The vehicle must only be driven by you and any other driver named on your rental agreement, or by anyone else we authorise in writing. Anyone driving the vehicle must have a full valid driving licence for at least two years and be over 25 or under 70 years of age.
You or any other authorised driver must not:

  • Use the vehicle for hire or reward,
  • Use the vehicle for any illegal purpose.
  • Use the vehicle for racing, pace making, testing the vehicle’s reliability and speed or teaching someone to drive.
  • Drive outside England, Wales and Scotland, unless we have given you written permission.
  • If the vehicle is a commercial vehicle use it for a purpose for which you need an operator’s licence if you do not have one.
  • Use the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

What you must do if vehicle is stolen or involved in an accident
If the vehicle or insured contents are stolen or unlawfully taken or involved in any accident you must:-

  • Give us and the insures full details at once and then confirm that notification in writing within 24hrs. (if you are injured and prevented from reporting the accident in this way, you must do so within a reasonable time);
  • Ensure that the driver completes and delivers to us an accident report form for delivery to insures within 7 days of accident;
  • Obtain names and addresses of all witnesses and give them to us;
  • Inform the police of any theft or unlawful taking;
  • Send to us at once any letters from any third party and any writ, summons or other document relating to court proceedings;
  • Help us and the insures in dealing with court proceedings. This includes allowing legal actions to be taken in your name and defending any proceedings taken against you.

Re-fuelling charges
You must return the vehicle with no less fuel than when the rental period began. A charge will be made for the amount required to top-up fuel to the amount when the rental period began.
No credit will be given on unused fuel or for fuel in excess of that provided by us at the start of the rental period.

Parking—Congestion—Speeding—Fines
All parking, congestion, speeding fines is the reasonability of the hirer, an administration fee of £10 will be charged to inform the authorities of the names and address of that driver that has committed an offence.

General
We reserve the right to refuse hire.
